Time to turn tassles
The UMBC community will celebrate the commencement of our graduate and undergraduate students this week. Tomorrow, graduate students will gather with their friends and family in the Retriever Activities Center(RAC) at 10am. Information on seating, accessibility and parking is all available here.
UMBC undergraduates will receive their diplomas off-campus at 1st Mariner Arena at 1pm on Thursday. Information regarding transportation and parking is available online. To take public transportation from UMBC, hop on the 35 from Poplar Ave. Visit the MTA website for more information on this route.
OCSS wishes a special congratulations to our graduating Commuter Assistants, Gabby Albotra and Phillip McLaughlin! Best wishes for a bright future to all those walking in this week's ceremonies!

Don't get stressed!
Tuesday is Study Day here at UMBC, and that means the Final Exam schedule starts Wednesday. After working hard all semester, and studying for the big tests to come this week, you need to take a moment to relax and de-stress. According to this Feb. 2013 article from Time, relaxation prior to test time can help facilitate optimal performance- whereas test anxiety can lead to students' achieving under their ability levels. So if you've been diligently reviewing notes and re-reading chapters, take advantage of some of these upcoming opportunities to unwind in the next couple of days...

Last day to purchase May MTA bus pass
Going once...
Today is the final day of May MTA monthly bus pass sales. Bus passes are available at our office until 5pm. To purchase a bus pass, you must use your campus Red Card. Monthly passes cost $39 at our office-- a significant savings over the regular MTA price!

Information for Commuters, Transfers, and Veterans
Are you looking for information related to
commuters, transfers, or veterans at UMBC? Then Off-Campus Student Services is
the place to be! Our office is located on the first floor of the Commons
building next to the Bookstore. Our email is ocss@umbc.edu and our phone number
is 410-455-2770.
What do we do?
What do we do?
1) Advocacy and
Education - We advocate for the inclusion of commuters, transfers, and veterans
in University life and educate students on developmental topics related to these
populations.
2) Commuter
Connection - We provide an outreach program for students who commute to campus,
including connecting them to on and off-campus resources.
3) Transfer
Student Network - We host a mentoring and social program connecting transfer
students to one another and to resources.
4) Vets2Vets - We
work with students on an outreach program for veterans of the US military,
providing a social and academic connection for these students.
5) Transportation
- We sell Maryland Transit Authority (MTA) bus passes at a discounted rate for
UMBC students and also provide help with getting to campus using public
transportation.
6) Off-Campus
Housing - We provide housing listings for students living off-campus, as well as
roommate-matching services and education on appropriate off-campus
behavior.
